Red Wing Downtown Main Street is a non-profit organization working to revitalize Red Wing’s historic business districts. From streetscape improvements and business development to the Holiday Stroll, and many other special events, we are making strides to revitalize downtown. The work our board and volunteers do to improve downtown Red Wing wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our donors. Red Wing Downtown Main Street is a volunteer-driven organization. A governing board of directors and standing volunteer committees make up our fundamental organizational structure. Volunteers are coordinated and supported by committee chairs. This structure not only divides the workload and clearly delineates responsibilities, but also builds consensus and cooperation among the various stakeholders within the community.
Volunteer Positions
Office Administration
See Program Coordinator or Organization Chair for available time slots
Help with large mailings – stamp, seal, and deliver letters/invitations
Provide general office assistance
Support various fundraising projects, including grant writing
Helping update membership information and databases
Data Entry
Event Coordination Helpers
Assist with event “day of” duties such as set up, registration, and clean-up
Support marketing and advertising plans
Solicit auction items and sponsorships
Hanging posters, no parking signs, or decorations
Helping communicate with local business owners so they can be actively engaged
Serve beer/wine (must be over 18 and have an active bartending license)
Committee Work
Sit on any of the active event (Holiday Stroll, Trunk or Treat, etc.) or board sub-committees (business development/org, promo, etc.)
Be a liaison for or sit on the DTMS Board of Directors
Community Outreach
Media Assistance
Photograph or video events for promotion
Graphic design of published materials and website
Help with newsletters
Assist in spreading the word via social media
Assist in upkeeping and updating the website
Writing blogs, articles, or press releases
